The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety’s latest American Driving Survey polled nearly 6,000 drivers around the country and found:

- More than 87% of drivers age 16 and older drove in the past year.

- Men drove 2,314 more miles than women and spend 18% more time driving.

- Seniors over age 75 drove 5,840 miles annually, while teenagers drove 7,551 miles.

- Rural drivers drove 13,029 miles annually; those in cities or towns drove 10,571 miles.

- More than 66% of total driving trips are taken by the driver alone.
- The average driver spends the equivalent of 7 40-hour work weeks behind the wheel each year.
