Spring is (Almost) Here – It’s Time for a Break!
March is already upon us, which marks the start of one my favorite seasons, SPRING! Warmer weather, blooming flowers, and especially, no more snow! I’m not sure about the rest of you, but after the winter we’ve had, I’ve never been more ready for spring. It’s also that time of year when many of us start planning vacations and spring break trips! To help prepare you for your next vacation, I’ve put together a small list that will ease some of the unfortunate headaches that go along with traveling and may have even helped the Griswold’s.
Plan ahead:
- Ever come home from a long, very relaxing vacation, only to find your house full of water from a leaking pipe? Yikes! Over the years, I’ve handled many claims where this has happened. Not a great way to come home from the beach! So before you leave for that long-awaited trip, make sure you have a friend, neighbor, or family member that can come by to check your house while you’re off relaxing with your feet in the sand.
Protect your valuables:
- Believe it or not, even the beach has its share of people just waiting for you to leave your lounger and go for a nice swim in the water. As soon as your back is turned, your tablet, phone, and wallet are gone, never to be seen again. One of the leading causes of identity theft is a lost or stolen wallet, so make sure your valuables (especially your wallet or purse) are stored in a secure place and not in plain view.
Vehicle check:
- For those lucky enough to live driving distance to the beach and are able to avoid the long security lines at the airport, be sure your car is ready for a long trip. If your car becomes disabled during your drive, it’s important to have checked prior to leaving if your insurance policy includes roadside assistance. If you pay for it, use it! If not, now might be the perfect time to contact your independent agent to include that coverage. Roadside assistance is designed to make road trips successful. Don’t let your vehicle stand in the way of you and your much-anticipated getaway.
Last but definitely not least, have fun! You’ve worked hard and earned some R&R time. So if nothing else, make it a point to disconnect and enjoy your time off.
